Icehouse

What first comes to mind when you hear the word ‘icehouse’? No, it’s not an ice cream parlor, but a true ancient ‘refrigerator’. A two-story structure crafted from large stones (with the first floor underground), used to store food – from autumn to the start of summer. The subterranean floor was lined with ice blocks, cut from the neighboring Neris river. Even now, a hole remains on the side facing the river, where ice used to be brought in.

What is it today? Come and see for yourself.

The Icehouse – a unique, small space, perfect for fragrant tea, relaxation, or other delightful rituals.
